Reporting Officer: Dariserix Bahktian, Squad Leader, Atropos Cell, Captain of the Reluctant
Routed via Operative Circe T’Siri
The leader of the squad of Blue Suns that I hired to extract some of my contacts from a bad job returned to the Citadel to report that the extraction was complete. I learned that the job in question was a fight to remove ExoGeni corporate troops from a moon orbiting a gas giant known under Alliance designation 1557-Argus. It’s a relatively unexplored system, but the ExoGeni Corporation discovered that the moon in question is a Prothean tomb world. Obviously the desire to exploit a potential cache of Prothean technology, notwithstanding Citadel law to the contrary, is a strong incentive for ExoGeni as well as for the mysterious employer who hired my contacts. My contacts, with Blue Suns aid, are pushing back against corporate interests in that sector.
Liara T’soni has established herself aboard the Reluctant. She’s presumably an expert on Protheans, and was intrigued by this information, but hesitant about the implications of an unknown employer hiring mercenaries to secure a cache of Prothean artifacts. As much as she may not like ExoGeni Corporation, at least they have to take Citadel law into account and have certified archaeologists on staff. It’s not something we can do much about at this time, but the information is being sent for perusal and action if necessary.
Aleksandr Davidson found his sister working for Task Force Aurora under Dr. Garret Bryson. This sister, Ilena Davidson, turned Aleksandr over to an Asari SPECTRE named Miilana Varon who apparently had an old grudge against him. He was able to alert us before the exchange, however, and thanks to Melsany Ward‘s ability to supercharge a citadel taxi, we made an… explosive entrance into the offices of the Asari Councilor Irissa. Liara was also able to contact one of your resources in the area, Sebastian Murphy who was able to get the drop on the SPECTRE while her dozen Asari commandos were distracted with Aleksandr. The commandos were apparently not the pushovers this new human expected them to be, and a tense moment very nearly became a firefight. We were able to convince the SPECTRE to stand down, however, and we left them to clean up the mess we left in Councilor Irissa’s office.
Needless to say, we laid low a bit in case of political blowback, but the matter wasn’t reported. Aleksandr and SPECTRE Varon met to discuss their differences at a cafe called Apollo’s on the Presidium. It was in the human embassy section, but the cafe itself was run by Matriarch Aethyta, a figure that the SPECTRE seemed to fear, if not respect. This was as close to neutral territory as was reasonable. The meeting occurred without violence.
As a side note, the mystery of the Matriarch Bartender was later unveiled. She is apparently Dr. T’Soni’s father, and was dispatched by certain factions on Thessia to keep an eye on her daughter. Apparently the combination of her being Shepard’s former companion, a apparently ranking member of your organization, and the daughter of Matriarch Benezia has caused some concern. She has worked under the cover of a local bartender on any world or station where Liara is known to spend a certain amount of her time. Lia’Danna vas Rayya and I ultimately brokered a conversation between father and daughter. Although Liara clearly knew that the Matriarch was her father, and was spying on her, she had never actually engaged the Matriarch in conversation before then. I think we can tentatively count the Matriarch as a resource at this time.
Melsany Ward has completed an experimental anti-indoctrination resonance system to be installed in the mass effect field projectors of the Reluctant. Dr. T’Soni plans on distributing the technical schematics of this system widely in hopes of improvement and perhaps, if we’re unlucky, testing.
Melsany also has demonstrated a heretofore unknown (to me) talent for biological engineering. This has come in useful, as our clone of Commander Shepard has sporadic memories that involve combat, using all the enhanced reflexes and other abilities of the full N7 suite of cybernetic implants that her current body does not possess. In order to continue the ruse that she is the original Shepard, we needed to implant the same or similar implants. Lia’Danna was able to get the schematics by hacking in Alliance military databases (at the expense, I suspect, of Alice White, your asset in Vancouver IT. Lia’Danna was unable to fully cover her tracks). Melsany was then able to micro-fabricate missing circuitry using cannibalized implants from other sources, and with the aid of Dr. Krayt, implanted them successfully into “Shepard.”
Dr. T’Soni has, with some reservations, decided to go forward with the deceased Maya Brooks‘s plan to break into the Council Archives and update the archival records of Commander Jane Shepard with the biometric data of her clone, in order to someday be able to produce the Commander, with full SPECTRE status intact. While it may take some time to get the clone to the point where she can pull of such a ruse, the CAT6 mercenaries are already in place, and the plan, as scavenged from Maya’s station, seems solid. Once all the pieces are in place, and “Shepard” is recovered enough to be moved, we’ll smuggle her into the archives and update her biometrics.
Dr. T’Soni also supplied Lia’Danna with “evidence” that she passed on to Kori’Van vas Alerai and Kenn’Zann nar Alerai vas Qwib Qwib that will hopefully remove the threat of continued Cerberus blackmail of Quarians from the Alerai. Lia’Danna also learned some disturbing details about the current state of Quarian politics. Apparently they are debating open warfare against the Geth, including arming their liveships with dreadnought-scale weaponry. Lia’Danna believes this will result in the near-extinction of her species. One wonders what secret weapon the admirals of the Migrant Fleet believe they have access to, to risk everything on such a war.
The Reluctant is repaired and Shepard’s surgery was successful. I send this report prior to beginning the operation into the Council Archives. I will file a supplemental report when the operation is concluded.
