Mass Effect - Apocalypse
Tori'Xen vas Alarei
Troublesome. Treason frowned upon in this system.
The word ‘traitor’ is thrown around a lot these days. Tori’Xen vas Alarei nar Qwib-Qwib found that out the hard way.
Technically speaking, he never actually committed treason, and he was never convicted, and never exiled. He cut a deal, and left the Migrant Fleet voluntarily, presumably at the behest of his family. But the net result is the same – Tori’Xen may not like the word ‘exiled’, and it may be only peripherally true, but he’s still not permitted to return to the fleet.
One could accurately call Tori’Xen an abject lesson in politics, and why to stay out of them: there are some games you can’t win, and being ‘right’ hardly matters when someone else sounds more right than you. And this is doubly true when low-ranking marines run afoul of influential individuals.
Whether or not that explains his rampant alcoholism, fatalistic outlook, and passion for the concertina is a matter of opinion.
